Blush wide legs and cropped eyelet
I definitely think I ordered culottes only to try them on and fall in love with them as wide leg, nearly-full length pants. But I'm so into these blush beauties. I'm realizing that I have a "type" when it comes to pants that aren't jeans—and they're high waisted and fitted up top, but cropped and looser down the leg. In fact, I think I'm even starting to adopt the shape for jeans, as well (last seen here). It's a surprisingly flattering cut on a short frame because it defines the waist and gives the illusion of longer legs which can be really hard to achieve otherwise. But I think it's an equally favorable style for tall humans, humans with curves, and maybe even just all humans. They hug in only the right places, and are the opposite of skinny jeans which have the most ironic name of all time. And paired with a boxy crop top (particularly this scalloped, eyelet one from Tobi that I now want in black, as well)? It's consistently my favorite way to feel put together, comfortable, and confident. Here's another look using the same basic recipe. It makes having a capsule-ish wardrobe very easy (the best part about adopting a capsule wardobe last year was learning my style - it now makes shopping and understanding my style and tendencies so much easier, even if I don't stick to a specific number of items in my wardrobe).
I also recently bought these mule espadrilles for spring and summer, and after some initial hemming and hawing over them, I'm a true convert. I wasn't sure if I was really an espadrille girl, but I love the slight vintage nod of their mustard-meets-tan color leather, and the mule shape that makes them feel more fresh and less overtly girly.
