Our navy and brass bathroom
As I've talked about before, our new home that we moved into in December has been a labor of love (here's our living room and guest room updates). And we knew it would be from the start; we wanted an old house with good character and great light that we could fix up and renovate ourselves. As is the case with every home project in the history of mankind (even, I'm sure, with cave renovations thousands of years ago), it's taking longer than anticipated. But I secretly kind of love it. I love knowing that there is always something we can work on, always something that can be improved upon a bit. It's really fun taking our time as we get to know ourselves and our home better, and slowly checking things off the "To Do" list.
That being said... when you're throwing a summer party in your backyard for friends and family to celebrate your marriage, the proverbial fire under your ass gets seriously LIT. UP. So, our marathon labor of love has quickly become a sprint to the finish line as we attempt to do those things that we can't shove into closets or hide behind closed doors that day. While we may not have grass in our newly ripped up yard, we will certainly have one navy and brass bathroom that we're pretty proud of. So, party in the bathroom, I guess.
Above is the slightly less chic blue variety of our main bathroom upstairs a few months ago. It was simply dated and cold and in need of a makeover. So Jon and co. gutted the entire thing and rebuilt it (in the same footprint) with updated and warmer finishes, such as natural stone in the form of marble floors and shower walls. I envisioned it being all white in its finished state, but it still felt a bit cold and unfinished at that stage. So in a wild turn of events (and much to Jon's thrill; he's a little sick of all-white-everything), we tried a rich navy color on the walls and fell in love with how it looked alongside brass, black, and white. And the rest is history!
